47 schools have persevered and will take part in the tournament.
Courtesy of Edwin 10 of those teams will be playing their first Koshien tournament. There are some usual suspects which have gone missing, most prominently Chiben Wakayama, who failed to qualify after a run of 8 years of qualifiying. Instead powerhouses like Nihon Bunri (Niigata) or Osaka Toin (Osaka) will take their shots at the title. And Tomohiro Anraku’s Saibi (Ehime) is in the mix as well. Ichiro’s alma mater (Aichi Kogyo Daigaku Fuzoku Meiden) also qualified as Aichi’s representative.
