Germans abroad: The week in review (07/19/13-07/25/13)

Better late than never. Here’s what the German minor leaguers were up to last week.

C Kai Gronauer (Las Vegas 51′s, AAA)
Gronauer is on the 7-day DL and therefore hasn’t seen any playing time. He was put on the DL on July 5th, but other than that I wasn’t able to find any news. He seems to be having fun with his teammates though.

LF Donald Lutz (Pensacola Blue Whahoos, AA)
Lutz is slowly getting his groove back, going 6-23 with a triple and 2 RBI. Looks as if his teammates on the major league level haven’t forgotten about him.

OF Max Kepler-Rosicky (Cedar Rapids Kernels, A)
Kepler had a good week going 7-23 with a double and 2 RBI. Seems he cut down his strikeout numbers a bit with an even 1 K/BB (5 K, 5 BB). He sits at .272/.357/.463. He also shared his thoughts on the current Biogenesis/PED mess by retweeting this one.

RHP Daniel Thieben (Pulaski Mariners, Advanced Rookie)
Thieben had two scoreless appearances against the Burlington Royals (0.2 IP, 1 BB, 2 K) and the Princeton Rays (2.0 IP, 2 H, 1 K).

RHP Markus Solbach (GCL Twins, Rookie)
Solbach was released by the Twins organization on July 21st and is now a free agent. According to a coversation on Twitter between Kepler and Lutz he’s now playing Independent Baseball somewhere in Chicago.

He didn’t have particulary terrible numbers by the time of release (1-1, 9.1 IP, 0.96 ERA, 8 H, 4 R, 1 BB, 5 KK).
