While the pitchers are thriving, the hitters are cooling down a bit. Here’s a look at what the German minor leaguers were up to last week.
C Kai Gronauer (Las Vegas 51′s, AAA)
No playing time for Gronauer this week. Which is a pity. At least he’s having fun with his former teammates.
LF Donald Lutz (Pensacola Blue Whahoos, AA)
Lutz got a lot of playing time in Pensaclo, but he seems to have lost his hitting stroke. He’s 3-21 since his return to AA with 3K and 9BB. That won’t help him to get back to the show.
OF Max Kepler-Rosicky (Cedar Rapids Kernels, A)
After a 4-5 night against Wisconsin on July 5th Kepler cooled down a bit, recording only 1H over the next 5 games. Right now he sits at .266/.333/.481 with 3HR, 7BB and 16K. Am I the only one who thinks his walk numbers should be slightly higher?
RHP Daniel Thieben (Pulaski Mariners, Advanced Rookie)
After extending his streak of keeping his opponents scoreless Thieben finally gave up two runs in yesterday’s first game of a doubleheader against the Johnson City Cardinals (box). Still his line for the season looks pretty good. He’s at 9.2 IP (6G) right now with an ERA of 1.86. His K/BB ratio is a bit shacky though with 7BB and 6K.
RHP Markus Solbach (GCL Twins, Rookie)
Solbach’s workload was higher. He pitched 5 innings in two games over the past week. And he didn’t allow any runs, bringing his ERA down to a miniscule 0.96. His K/BB is way better than Thieben’s (1BB, 5K), although he might want to work on his strikeout numbers.
German media have picked up Sven Schüller’s signing with the Dodgers (German article).
