As my friend Ken reminded me, the Mets have sent catching prospect Kai Gronauer to AAA Las Vegas to start the season.
This might be the toughest assignment in the whole organization, just because of the presence of Travis d’Arnaud, so one has to guess the person rotting the hardest for d’Arnaud to reach the majors quickly must be his backup in AAA.
Gronauer spent time between AA and A+ last year, mainly because of injuries. The move to AAA makes him the player from Germany playing at the highest level at the moment. I don’t know where the other German players ended up after spring training, but I’ll make sure I find that out.
